Lilah B.

For me, Lilah B was one of those brands that just popped up out of no where. I was strolling through Sephora, minding my own business, trying to convince myself that I didn’t need a 17th foundation, when out of the corner of my eye I saw her; the clean beauty brand of my dreams: Lilah B.

The thing with most clean beauty brands, particularly clean makeup brands, is that it always feels like you’re giving something up in order to have a cleanly formulated product. But not with Lilah B. Everything from packaging to formulation to color story feels luxe. If you’re looking for a bright blue eyeshadow, you’re out of luck, but if you want natural formulations with a high end experience, Lilah B is where I would start.

LET’S BREAK DOWN EVERYTHING I OWN:

Bronzed Beauty

By far my favorite that I own from Lilah B. This took me a minute to get used to. The formula feels harder than most of my other bronzers, so when I try to use it with a big fluffy brush, there is almost no color payoff. Once I tried a denser bronzer brush, I started to understand why everyone was raving about it.

I will say that they only have one shade in their bronzer collection, which is a little disappointing seeing as anyone much darker than I am would probably have a hard time using this. Anyone light to possibly a medium skin tone is likely to love it though. It gives a beautiful natural warmth and glow to the skin. It is not matte, but gives a sheen to the skin as opposed to any noticeable glitter.

Palette Perfection Eye Quad

Probably the product that I got the most questions about, it’s easy to see why so many people are interested in their eyeshadow palettes. I mean, they’re sleek, gorgeous and perfect for everyday wear. All of the colors are fairly muted, making it easy for people like me who tend to be scared of color to step slightly outside of their comfort zone. I have three or the four palettes that they offer: B. Fabulous (grey), B. Stunning (browns) & B. Envied (olives).

Like their bronzer, this is a harder formula, so denser brushes are required in order to get good color payoff. Fluffy brushes have a tendency to pick up little to no product, but if you use a dense brush, something like their crease brush, then you can get pretty good payoff.

I know that some people were concerned that because all four shadows were in one pan with no separation, that it would get messy very easily. So far, that has not happened to me. I think because it’s a harder formula, you get very little fallout and therefore very little mess.

Tinted Lip Balm

Possibly the only thing I’ve tried from them that I don’t love. I find the tinted lip balm to be incredibly thick, almost too thick to be spreadable on the lips. Out of everything I’ve used, this is the one I would skip. I would opt for the Divine Duo Lip & Cheeks instead.

Divine Duo Lip & Cheek

These lip & cheek duos really stand out for me. They’re creamy, blend beautifully and can last through a full day at work with no need for touchups. B. Lovely is my favorite for the cheeks and I love to use B. Fearless beautiful red tint on the lips. Realistically, you can’t go wrong with any of the colors. It’s more about finding a shade that stands out to you.

Aglow Face Mist

I would like to bathe in this beauty daily. If someone could make that happen, I would appreciate it.

I will say, mine came broken. This mister is just a little broken, so it doesn’t mist as finely as I know it typically does. Instead it kind of spits at me. Not a big deal considering I use this when I have clean skin as opposed to over makeup, but something worth noting.

I like to sandwich this between my different layers of skincare to really pack in the extra moisture.

Brushes

I have two different brushes; the crease brush and the retractable bronzer brush. I’m madly in love with the crease brush, but I don’t find myself reaching for the bronzer brush. I’ve never been a huge fan of retractable brushes. I get it for practicality, but I never tough up my makeup throughout the day. I also find the bronzer brush to be too soft and fluffy for the actual bronzer. I always end up needing a denser brush to get the job done.

The crease brush, however, is perfection. It’s soft, but dense. It deposits the perfect amount of shadow and blends everything in two seconds flat. This has definitely become a staple in my makeup collection.

Overall

As we can tell, I love almost everything Lilah B makes. With that being said, I have the same problem with Lilah B that I have with most smaller, more natural brands: inclusivity. The tones in these products are obviously targeted towards someone with a fairly light skin tone. One bronzer shade is not going to work for everyone. I do think the blushes come in a beautiful variety of shades and most everyone is likely to find a shade that works on them.

These are beautiful products. I just wish that everyone could enjoy them the way that I get to. Hopefully they expand the shade ranges in their base products to be more inclusive.
