Beauty Breakdown: Cream Blush

With summer just around the corner, I am all about cream products. Blush, bronzer, highlight. You name it, I want a cream version. I find that especially in summer, cream blush melts in better with my skin and gives me a much more natural flush. So today, we’re breaking down cream blushes from six brands to see what really is the best of the best.

INC.redible Cosmetics – $8.00

Cruelty Free, Vegan & Paraben Free

I didn’t really have high hopes for these when I first got them, but they’re actually really beautiful. They’re a whipped texture, unlike anything else I have in my collection. They blend out like air; it’s one of the strangest feelings, almost like you’re not touching anything at all. These truly are weightless on the skin. I do find that these have pretty good wear-time; easily getting me through a full days work and still holding on strong.

The only issue I find is that they need a few more shades, especially more bronzy, natural shades. In the summer, I find that I want my blush to be golden, peachy, on bronze. What they came out with were all basically variations of a cool-toned pink. Hopefully their range expands, because I find this formula to be wonderful.

Lilah B. – $46.00

Cruelty Free & Vegan

Free from gluten, parabens, phthalates, sulfates and synthetic fragrances.

This is the only one that feels almost like a cream to powder formula. It gives a matte finish on the skin and probably has the best wear-time out of all the cream blushes I’ve tried. Because I tend to have very dry skin, I find that I need to make sure that my skin is sufficiently moisturized to get the best application with this since it can ever to slightly cling to dry patches. If you have oily skin, this probably your perfect cream blush formula.

Kosas – $34.00

Cruelty Free, Gluten, Egg, Nut and Soy Free & Synthetic Fragrance Free

Also free of Parabens, Phthalates, Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol and Phenoxyethanol

If you have very dry, dehydrated skin, this is where I would point you. Their cream formulation is incredibly emollient. It blends out like a dream, but because it doesn’t really dry down and lock in place, it doesn’t have the best lasting power as compared to the others.

NudeStix – $32.00

Cruelty Free, Vegan, Hypoallergenic, Gluten-free & Fragrance Free

Also formulated without: parabens, sulfates, phthalates

NudeStix has two different formulas in their cream blushes: Nudies Matte & Nudies Bloom. Realistically, I love both, but they give a slightly different finish to the cheeks. It should also be noted that out of all the brands I’m talking about today, NudeStix far and away beats the competition on shades. They make the most beautiful, natural shades that seem to work on just about everyone.

Nudies Bloom reminds me a little of the Kosas cream blush in that it gives a beautiful dewy glow that doesn’t really set in place. This formula is probably best for those of us that have dry skin or just love a dewy look but don’t mind that this might not stick around all day.

Nudies Matte is pure perfection. Realistically, this formula would work for just about every skin type, but especially for those with a slightly oilier complexion since it does tend to hold on a little better to the skin and gives a more satin/matte finish to the cheeks. Out of the two formulas that NudeStix offers, the Nudies Matte is probably my winner for day-to-day use.

Glossier – $18.00

Cruelty Free, Hypoallergenic, Paraben Free & Fragrance Free

This is the closest to the INC.redible cream blushes in that they are very sheer, blend like a dream and feel entirely weightless on the skin. This does come is 6 gorgeously natural shades that I think would work on a variety of skin tones.

Tom Ford – $65.00

By far the most luminous blush in my collection, it is also one of my favorites. This specific one is no longer being sold, but I believe he comes out with new cream blush shades every summer. This formulation is incredibly emollient, almost feeling like it melts into an oil with the warmth of my fingers. This does not dry down at all, so I tend to get a little movement and fading throughout the day, but if does give me that beautiful juicy cheek look that I am always after. If you’re looking for a splurge item, this is it for me.

Overall

If I could only recommend one brand that you look at for cream blushes, hands down the winner is NudeStix. They have the best colors, the formulations are amazing and I found that they wore the best on my skin throughout the day.

But realistically, I just don’t think you could go wrong with any of these as they are all absolutely beautiful.

What’s your favorite cream blush?
